Car sales in Europe collapsed by 78%

    The crisis

European manufacturers report sales falling by a record 78.3% in April 2020. This is the biggest decline since the start of statistics.

The worst figures were recorded in Italy, the UK and Spain, where sales fell by more than 96%.

If we take statistics on sales in the EU, as well as Sweden, the UK and Norway, it was sold a total of 270,682 cars, instead of 1.14 million sold a month earlier.

The main cause of the anti-record is the fight against a pandemic, as a result of which many car dealerships were closed.
