Media: central banks may prohibit private ownership of gold
According to Bloomberg with reference to the letter of the Odey Asset Management investment fund to investors, central banks may ban private ownership of gold. The reason is called a sharp increase in inflation due to the coronavirus and the crisis provoked by it.
Head of Odey Asset Management Crispin Odi said inflation could rise to 15% over the next year and a half, as the US would have to respond to serious stock market dips. He also added that during the Great Depression, the Federal Reserve introduced a ban on private ownership of gold.
