South Korean UPbit hacked at $ 50 million in ETH


Popular crypto exchange from South Korea UPbit officially announced hacking and theft of 342,000 ETH, which equals $ 50 million. Funds were withdrawn from the hot wallet of the exchange in one transaction.
The first rumors of hacking began after Whale Alert found on the Ethereum network a transfer from UPbit to an unknown address of 342,000 ETH.

Later, the exchange confirmed that the hacking had indeed taken place and they undertook to compensate for the loss of customers from their own stocks. At the moment, all assets are transferred to cold wallets, the site is temporarily suspended.
Also, Whale Alert noticed the conclusions on large amounts with IPbit in other cryptocurrencies, including Tron and BitTorrent. But the exchange claims that hackers only stole Ethereum.
